Joakim Persson signs new contract with Malmö FF
The talented goalkeeper Joakim Persson signs a new first team contract with Swedish champions Malmö FF on a 3-year-deal.
Joakim Persson received his football training at Hyllie IK and, via Trelleborgs FF, made the move to Malmö FF and the P17 team in 2023. He quickly established himself and made his debut in the P19 Allsvenskan during his first year.
2024 became a breakthrough season for the 17-year-old. He became part of the first team’s goalkeeper group and, in several matches, served as the second goalkeeper in both Allsvenskan and the Europa League qualifiers.
In December, he made his senior debut, earning a starting spot in the cup match against Torslanda IK at Malmö IP, which MFF won 5–2. Just under two weeks later, he was called up again, this time in the Europa League against the Turkish giant Galatasaray SK.
In addition to playing for MFF, Persson has also earned eight youth international caps for Sweden.
